Welcome

Welcome to P.S. 5! We are pleased to have you as partners in our educational community. Being a part of our school community presents opportunities for various experiences throughout your child's academic journey. New classes, new faces, exciting new curriculums and materials, and of course a stimulating encouraging school culture will all be a part of the experience. We approach everyday with an opportunity to learn, build character and develop work ethics to prepare a new generation of leaders, thinkers and contributors to a greater society.

P.S. 5 school hours are from 8:00 a.m. – 2:20 p.m. Monday through Friday. Our teachers are available to meet on Tuesday afternoons from 2:20 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. by appointment.  We also have several parent engagement nights throughout the year so please be sure to check the school calendar for information.

We continue to have a Uniform Policy and expect our students to wear their uniform daily. Children are to wear a yellow shirt or blouse and grey or dark blue jeans. Girls may also wear a burgundy, burgundy plaid jumper, skirt or skort.

Families will continue to work closely with Ms. Milly Smith-Reyes, our Parent Coordinator and our active PTA. We welcome our parents to become active participants in their child’s education as well as at the school.  Throughout the year we offer different programs and opportunities exclusively for our parents.  Please make sure to check the Parents link frequently for up-to-date information.  

We welcome your participation and support for all of the years that your child attends our school. Our primary objective is focusing on your child. Working together we will be able to reach our goals and celebrate our achievements. Together we will make your child's experience at P.S. 5 great!
